Build on the skills and knowledge learned in Introduction to Canoeing or equivalent experience. Adapt your strokes and maneuvers to moving water and learn a few new ones. Identify eddies, eddy lines and other river features and learn how to use them to move your canoe where you want it to be. Learn to identify and avoid common local river hazards and how to respond to emergencies. We will also discuss river etiquette, running shuttles, and useful equipment. At the end of the class you will be more comfortable in your boat on moving water and have the information you need to plan your own trip on a class one river.
