Chandalar River
The Chandalar River is located on the southern slope of the Brooks Range. It flows to the south and the east into the Yukon River. In 2009, we spent a month exploring three of its forks, paddling over 500 miles.

The John River begins in Gates of the Arctic National Park and flows south, through the Brooks Range. Though the river flows from Anaktuvuk Pass, many people began their trip at Hunt Fork Lake. This post covers Hunt Fork Lake to the confluence with the Koyukuk River.

Chatenika River: Olnes Pond to Whitefish Campground
The Chatenika River is located north of Fairbanks and can be accessed from both the Steese and Elliot highway. This section is a great day float near Fairbanks.
